Creating a pecan buttermilk pancake and waffle mix seemed the perfect way to share our family tradition with others. As one of our customers comments, "these pancakes are so good, you can eat them without syrup." Our pancakes are all natural and low fat (Dad's on a low cholesterol diet.) We make these pancakes with unbleached flour, and non-hydrogenated vegetable shortening powder so they are a little more healthy with that great Southern taste. This mix includes a 2oz bag of homestyle pecans that can be chopped and mixed into the batter and/or sprinkled on top. Enjoy! In keeping with our efforts to Go Green, we have packaged our mixes in a retro-designed feed sack that makes a unique and delicious gift. If you find a better complete pancake mix send us the name, we will want to try it since we love pancakes. | | | Features: | |

Too ExpensiveJun 25, 2009

I bought this to use with my Presto 03510 FlipSide Belgian Waffle Maker
It arrived yesterday, and with my amazon prime, shipped really fast (two days). This morning I got it out, and discovered that the "recipe" requires using the entire bag (along with a cup of water). Certainly simple enough, but because the Flipside makes a very large (7 inch) waffle, I got something like 2 and 3/4 waffles from the batch. At about $7 to buy this, almost $2 per waffle is rather pricey, especially for those on a fixed income.
Taste wise, they were okay.... in fact, pretty nice, as I like the crunch of the pecans, but frankly, I can buy my own chopped pecans at the market and make my own batter.
If you're wanting to gift someone a new waffle maker, this would make a nice addition due to the packaging in a "cloth" bag, but for everyday use....... not for me.
